We have installed a Hi Fi system featuring Icon valve amps & vintage Celestion & Tannoy studio monitors to ensure the music played is represented at its best.

The idea is to be able to feel & hear the music whilst also being able to conduct a conversation. Toe tapping optional…

Most weekends, DJs play accessible yet credible musical selections across all formats (not just vinyl…). You can listen to past recorded sets on our Mixcloud channel here.

We also host supper clubs, live music and other fun stuff. Read on …

St Peter’s Church Walworth, SE17 2HH

Friday 7 December

19.00 – 23.00

tickets priced £10 & £15   here

Louie Louie & Funkiwala Records present “Lokkhi Terra meets Deli Sosimi” live, with the London fusionistas creating a unique sound-clash with ex-Fela Kuti keyboardist and legendary UK Afro-beat ambassador Dele Sosimi.

This is one of a handful of shows supporting the release of the recording on Funkiwala Records, “Cubafrobeat.

This particular collaboration has been bubbling away for a few years now, teasing audience expectations with a handful of sold out shows each year in between both bands busy schedules.

‘…this coming together feels particularly inspired.’ 4-Stars Jane Cornwell – Evening Standard

‘….a fusion rendered seamless by the synergies existing between Afro-Cuban and Yoruban music, language and mythology [………] Cubafrobeat is a total stonking blinder.’
Chris May – All About Jazz

Kishon Khan’s Lokkhi Terra have over a number of years now been quietly establishing themselves as one of London’s more unusual heavyweight outfits, described as “Stunning Headliners… A majestic multi-cultural blend of sounds… effortlessly builds bridges between rolling Indian raga rhythms, Afro-Cuban grooves, Acid Jazz/funk and free flowing improvisation” (Timeout London). Included amongst the band members are London’s top Cuban musicians, adding their infectious rich musical history to the city’s melting pot. When the band wanted to explore Cuban links with another of their favourite traditions, Afrobeat, who better to bring in then one of the Afrobeat originators – maestro Dele Sosimi – “Sosimi creates some of the most bewitching grooves in modern African music” E Jazz News.

Bringing together two Yoruba speaking musics – with different accents, from different sides of the Atlantic – Havana meets Lagos in London – A Cuban- Afrobeat-Experience. CUBAFROBEAT.

Support comes from the Impromptu! players featuring the Jesse Doniach Trio & friends + DJ Madera Verde (SOAS Radio)
